DGC COLLABORATIVE PROJECT
A major renovation was underway in turning this “ugly duckling” 1968 multi-use commercial building into two adjoining architectural spaces. Interiors were gutted and stripped of all electrical, plumbing and A/C systems, then framed to create a retail showcase for objets d’art and an independent fine art gallery. Windows and fixtures were replaced, flooring removed and original concrete stripped, refinished and treated with white hi-gloss marine paint. A t-bar ceiling was removed to provide greater height, and craft paper insulation added behind custom sheet metal ducting and lighting systems. DGC installed an irrigation system for the garden and designed whimsical planters for both the front and back exterior spaces. The roof was repaired and the building’s brick façade resurfaced for a smooth trowel stucco finish.
